David began participating in weekend art shows between teaching art and coaching duties in Lancaster county and Chesterfield county public schools.

David exhibits in 25 to 30 shows a year , Miami to Cleveland and has done so for 14 years, compiling over 100 awards in the 26 years of showing and selling watercolors.

His watercolors are in many corporate and private collections nationally which include Dominion Power, Bell Atlantic Telephone and American Tobacco in New York.

David was the recipient of the James Madison University Alumni Achievement Award in 1990 and was a member of the Alumni Board of Directors.
